Traditional Spanish Retablo Painting

Retablos are devotional paintings of religious figures on wood panels. This course, taught by Rose Price, will include researching the history and the study of traditional retablos and artists.

Entry-Level Driver Training, CDL Permit Prep

Federally mandated ELDT training in accordance with FMCSA. 35 ELDT chapters taught, as well as general knowledge, air brakes, combination vehicles, in accordance with NM CDL Manual. Guidance on meeting all requirements to obtain ELDT training and a CDL permit.

Pueblo Style Loom Beading

This class will take students step by step, from beginning to end to finish a project by the end of 5 hours of class time. Students will learn how to string a loom and how to apply the beads on the loom so that they are securely fastened. Students will also be taught about patterns and designs and follow demonstrations on how to count while following a pattern.
Lastly, students will learn how to finish the project in two different ways. The first technique will show students how to sew onto brass wrapped in buckskin for a bracelet and/or students will learn how to apply sterling silver findings to finish a bracelet.

Kernel to Tortilla: A Workshop on Nixtamalization and Masa
October 19, 2024 • Saturday • 10:00am-2:00pm

Hands-on cooking class. Take all the recipes home with you! Instructor Andrew Fleisher will walk you through:

  • How to process local Blue Corn into masa, using a process called "Nixtamalization"
  • Grinding corn into masa on metate, molino and hand-mill.
  • Pressing fresh masa into tortillas, learn a few tips for making good tortillas.
  • Making other masa-based foods like gorditas, pupusas, tetelas, etc.
  • Using local, traditional, seasonal ingredients to make tacos
  • Feasting on what you make!
